DRASHTI DOESN’T PLAN TO PARTY ON HER B’DAY

Drashti Dhami talks about her birthday plans, says she enjoyed travelling in 2017 and how she is now “raring to go back to work”

Drashti Dhami had a party a few days before her birthday as “some friends were visiting Mumbai and close friends too, had dropped by.” “Since we had a party a few days ago, I won’t be partying on my birthday today. I will visit my grandmother who lights up when she sees me. I might meet (actor-friend) Sanaya (Irani) for lunch.” Recalling a memorable birthday celebration, Drashti says, “My 18th birthday was probably the last time I threw a party for my friends with a DJ, etc. I had 25 friends over and we had the whole house to ourselves. The cops came over as the music was too loud (laughs).”

The Madhubala actor has been working out every morning regularly since her TV show Pardes Mein Hai Mera Dil ended in June last year. “I am enjoying workouts and I try not to miss it. The last year has been blissful. I worked on a good TV show and I was able to enjoy my friends and cousins’ wedding from start to finish instead of reaching on the D-day, that always happens when I am shooting. Also, I have enjoyed travelling this year. I went to the US, London, UK, Dubai, UAE, Indonesia, Croatia. In India, I went to Kerala, Delhi, Goa, Jaipur, Kasauli and Tadoba. This year has been both wonderful and peaceful with work and leisure. Now I am raring to get back to work,” says Drashti. The actor who started her career with Dill Mill Gayye wants to attempt roles unlike the ones she has done in her decade-long career.

Ask her if she is keen on doing films à la her peers and she says, “No. Films are not on my mind. And it’s not that I am flooded with offers that I would think about them either. I am happy in my space on television. I wouldn’t mind doing a web series as it would be something different. I would also like to try something like a new dance form. My mother suggested that I learn how to play the guitar but that doesn’t interest me,” she adds.
