Of sports and glamour
The third edition of the Kingfisher Ultra Indian Derby was held at the Royal Western India Turf Club (RWITC), Mahalaxmi, on Sunday (February 4). It had a line-up of pure-bred colts, geldings and fillies on the race-track, who participated in the blue riband race. It also had in attendance several celebrities and dignitaries including actor Richa Chadha, chairman of RWITC, Khusroo Dhunjibhoy, MD of United Breweries Shekhar Ramamurthy and Prashant Patwardhan, GM-marketing of United Breweries. The occasion saw a union of music and fashion as well.
The weekend leading up to the derby was packed with events and performances such as the Flying Drummers playing at the pre-derby party, and a fashion show choreographed by Rahul Dev Shetty. The pre-derby party was trailed by a curtain raiser of the Ultra Indian Derby with the pre-derby carnival. On Saturday (February 3), a screening of the web film, Half Ticket 2 by Ultra Shorts, was held to keep crowds entertained. DJ A Sen kept spirits high between the races.
