Shweta Rohira recently made her foray into theatre, starring in a play helmed by Bharat Dabholkar. Previously, she had enacted in a short film titled Parineeti. The actor feels that she has been fortunate enough to get projects by being at the right place at the right time. Acting was not a childhood dream for Shweta, but it’s one among her other interests such as writing and painting. “I used to participate in cultural activities in college. Besides, I’ve done TVCs (television commercials) and print ads earlier. I am not completely alien to the craft or the world of acting. However, it was this role (in the play) that I decided to give it a shot. It was too exciting a character to sink my teeth into,” she says.

Talking about the response she has been garnering for her acting abilities, Shweta says that she is glad that it has only been positive, and is grateful to the entire team. She believes “theatre is the perfect platform for any artiste to start their [acting] career”. “I haven’t done any specific acting course or training, but the workshops that I attended for this play have been a wonderful learning experience. Theatre is a great medium. Performing live in front of audiences is deeply gratifying,” says the actor, who would like to explore comedy and musicals in the future.

Shweta has had a complete physical transformation in a span of two years. The actor says she is “still working on it [her body], and credits yoga and a positive state of mind for her recent makeover”. On asking about her long-term plan and if acting in movies also features in it, she says, “I really don’t do long-term planning. But I am a total movie buff, and I am an expressionist. So, I would love to act in movies someday.”
