Popular for her roles in TV shows such as Doli Armaano Ki (DAK) and Balika Vadhu, actor Neha Marda is all set to open an academy in Patna, Bihar. “Other than acting, we will also provide training in singing, dancing, make-up and styling. I have got faculty members from Mumbai to Patna to give the students the best training,” says Neha.

The actor wants to help the students through the initial struggling phase. “The students will be taught how to handle auditions and deal with initial hiccups. Bagging a project will be decided based on their talent and luck but preparing them to face the world is the idea behind the academy,” Neha says, adding, “Moreover, I have noticed that people from Patna are often hesitant to reveal where they are from as they feel people usually get towards them. But there is so much talent in Bihar, so why not give them a chance to get the best opportunity? I feel responsible towards Patna as that’s where my in-laws are based. I see this as a cause not a business opportunity. After 12 years as an actor, I know the industry well and I know what the students need to know before entering the industry.” Neha’s academy will open in May.

Recently, she returned to acting after DAK ended in 2015. She admits that while being an actor might seem glamorous and easy, that’s not the case. “You need immense hard work and commitment to be an actor. You might have to shoot for 12 hours a day and perform scenes even if you are not in the frame of mind,” she says.
