I AM BEST FRIENDS WITH MY SISTERS: NEETI MOHAN
That she is a popular singer in Bollywood is a known fact, but to call Neeti Mohan a multifaceted personality would not be wrong. After crooning several Bollywood melodies such as ‘Bawara mann’ (Jolly LLB 2; 2017), ‘Piya more’ (Baadshaho; 2017) and ‘Nachle na’ (Dil Juunglee), among others, Neeti is now all set to release her single ‘Kanha re’. And for the same, the singer has taken a special step to make her music video perfect — learning Kathak. Neeti has collaborated with her sisters Shakti and Mukti Mohan for this song which will release on April 12. The music video is about Radha, Rukmini and Meera, who express their love for Lord Krishna in their own ways. In the video, Neeti plays Meera, Shakti plays Radha and Mukti plays Rukmini.
“Dance has always been a part of my family and all of us have learnt dancing since childhood. So I had trained in Bharatanatyam, jazz, ballet and some folk dances while growing up because I have always felt that music, dance anand actactingng on stage go handan in n hand because they are interconnected. And it’s amazing to do any kind of training because it disciplines you, brings the right posture and grace to the body. I feel amazing when I dance,” says Neeti.
Even though, she had a small encounter with the dance form when she was growing up, the singer started perfecting her Kathak 15 to 20 days before they started shooting for the video. “I used to practise everyday because towards the end of the song, the bandish turns into a tarana and there is a fast sequence of contemporary Kathak,” she says.
About collaborating with her sisters for the first time, Neeti says she has always wanted an opportunity to work with them. “We grew up together and went to the same school and college. We are really close and are the best of friends. When it comes to performing together, we are so excited to work together, and we are always looking for opportunities like that,” she says.
