WOULD LIKE TO SING ROFESSIONALLY’

Hina Khan is game to take her love for music to the next level by singing if an opportunity presents itself, also talks about her passion for fashion

Hina Khan is busy exploring her varied interests including her love for fashion and music. The actor recently won India’s HT Most Stylish TV personality (female) award and has even walked the ramp for some renowned fashion designers lately. Besides, she recently starred in a music video. In a quick chat, Hina talks about her upcoming offers, music and fashion. Excerpts.

How was your experience of shooting for a music video?

It was great. Music is a completely different world altogether and Punjab is an immense market. I would love to do a Punjabi film as well, as the audience is vast ranging from India to Toronto.

You like to sing as well, so do you plan to sing professionally?

I haven’t yet thought about singing professionally, it is a hobby. But if an opportunity comes up, I would surely like to take it up professionally. I enjoy various types of songs, but my favourites are some of the old classic Hindi numbers.

Were you always inclined towards fashion? Also, because of your first show, did you have to adhere to your onscreen image otherwise too?

Yes, as a television bahu, you do have limitations when it comes to experimenting with fashion. But that’s part and parcel of the show. When I was playing a bahu on screen, my experiments though limited, were inclined more towards Indian. Now I can experiment a lot more. I have always loved dressing up, which girl doesn’t? With Khatron Ke Khiladi and Bigg Boss, audiences have now started seeing the way I actually like to dress.

What does fashion mean to you?

Fashion is about expressing your identity, showing someone who you are through your fashion choices and using your clothes to tell someone something about you. I suppose for some people clothing is just about comfort or utility, but for me it’s about expressing myself.

Are you fashion conscious?

Ideally, I like to create my own style statement. I believe that if you can describe your style,you know exactly what makes you, you.

What is your favourite shopping destination?

Oxford Street in London.

Actors get trolled on social media when they are seen out of their onscreen image? Have you faced these remarks too?

Many times, and sometimes I choose to ignore them. But if it gets too much, I reply.

What kind of shows have you been offered lately?

They are of varied genres. Once things are close to materialising, I can speak about it at length. I’m focusing on good and challenging work. I never knew I could pull off stunts (in Khatron Ke Khiladi 8) or that I could remain locked up in a house, surrounded by cameras for so long (Bigg Boss, season 11). So now, it (offers) has to live up to the challenge and be different from what I’ve already done

earlier.
