Working on films without a break can be fun and exhausting, but Richa Chadha has found that it can also be helpful in prepping for a role. The actor is currently promoting her upcoming political thriller, directed by Sudhir Mishra, and is also prepping for her next film, a black comedy directed by Anubhav Sinha. The latter film is a satire of coalition politics, and according to a source, Richa is positive that her experience of working for Mishra’s film will come in handy while she preps for the new one.

The source adds that the Gangs of Wasseypur (2012) actor is thrilled that her character in the new project is quite different from her role in Sudhir Mishra’s film, and she is quite excited to work in another film with a political undertone.

Richa is also studying politics to prepare for her next movie. The source reveals, “Apart from using the experience from her previous films, Richa is currently studying and researching politics at length. She’s taking help from her professors in college, as she studied history and politics in St. Stephen’s College, Delhi. She has been discussing Uttar Pradesh’s political history with her teachers, because both the directors she is working with are so clued in to the politics of the region that she has had to work hard to catch up. However, besides prepping for the role, Richa is personally interested in knowing more about the region and its history and background. She wants to understand the class divide, how strongholds are created, and the problems and issues the state faces.”

Richa says, “History was my major subject in college. World politics has always interested me and I always liked keeping up with global events. Researching area-specific politics was very intriguing and interesting. This isn’t the first time I’ve worked to research politics, as I did that for my previous films too. This research comes in handy when you want to understand the script and the context of the film better.”
