Divyanka’s dream hero in films? Akshay Kumar
Divyanka Tripathi Dahiya has more or less ruled the roost on television for almost a decade now. The actor came to Mumbai from Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, in 2004, and gained fame with her very first TV show, Banoo Main Teri Dulhann. Since then, she has been one of the most popular TV actors, and also has one of the highest number of followers on social media among Indian celebs.
A lot of actors turn to Bollywood after a successful stint on the small screen, so when asked about her silver screen aspirations, Divyanka says, “I’ve been offered films, but they usually came my way when I was already working on television. When a show is doing well, I’d rather not make an impulsive decision to leave it, even for a film. TV has given me more than I ever asked for, and I’m grateful. Any film I do has to be worth a risk.” Her current TV show has been running for four years.
When asked with whom she’d like to work in films, Divyanka that she’d love to romance Akshay Kumar. But she doesn’t want to restrict herself to alluring parts. “If I get a breakthrough, I wouldn’t want to do glamorous roles only. I’d want challenging roles. And why not, when I have killed a crocodile on my TV show (laughs)? The role needs to excite me, make me nervous. Only then would it be worth it. I see myself as Akshay Kumar’s heroine one day. I’ve loved all his films and he compliments every actress he’s worked with.”
