Surely, it’s a special birthday (today) for Vicky Kaushal, not just because he turns 30 but also since the actor is on a high with the success of his latest release, Raazi. “The praise for my performance and success of the film is really the best birthday gift for me,” admits Vicky. “It is a special birthday because my film as well as I am getting so much love. It’s a beautiful feeling. Everything feels great. These days, I feel that I was born at the right time (laughs),” he adds.

Vicky, however, doesn’t have any big birthday plans. “I love to have working birthdays. It is such a great way to start a new year,” says the actor, adding that he has already started work on his next project, Uri. “I have started attending workshops for it. Plus, I will be with my Raazi team for an event,” says Vicky, who will also spend time with his family and friends today, though his father, action director Sham Kaushal, won’t be in town as he has gone for an outdoor shoot for Student of the Year 2. “But I must admit that I love everything about birthdays — cakes and wishes included (smiles). So, you feel special on the day,” he adds.

Although the Masaan (2015) actor admits that Raazi has been a great birthday gift, he was “pleasantly surprised” with the reactions and positive word of mouth for the film. “All of us were always proud of this beautiful film, so, we were expecting good things to happen but not so unanimously. Everyone has responded fantastically,” says Vicky, adding that he has had “a very surreal journey

” in Bollywood till now.

“The journey has been overwhelming. Within threeand-a-half years, if you have received the opportunity to work with directors such as Meghna Gulzar, Karan Johar and Raju sir (Rajkumar Hirani), you feel like pinching yourself. They are not only wonderful with their craft but are real gems [of the industry]. So, you get to learn a lot. I am happy that my foundation is getting really strong, as I am
