Avika Gor’s latest TV show, Laado 2, will end in a few days in spite of being on air for just six months. Understandably, the Balika Vadhu actor is disappointed about her show ending so soon. She says, “When I took on the show, I was told I would be playing a strong-willed girl who fights for justice. I thought it would be along the lines of the film, No One Killed Jessica (2011), where the protagonist fights against the system for justice. But, eventually, the show turned out to be diagonally opposite. I signed the show, as I was told it wouldn’t be like a daily soap. became something conventional, which made me worry about its future. I am disappointed, but I guess that’s how you learn in life.”

Avika took on the show after a hiatus of two years away from the small screen, but the actor says she didn’t expect it to shut shop in a short span of time. “There were too many story track changes. The story moved too quickly. It takes time for people to connect with the story or characters. These changes were due to ratings, and it was challenging as an actor. One week, my character was a strong person, taking her own decisions, and the next, she would be weak-willed and follow the hero. At times, there were scenes that I wasn’t happy with and I did reach out to the channel and the creative team to tell them that the character was going for a toss.”

After being part of a hit show like Balika Vadhu, a lot was expected of the actor, but she says she never takes on any pressure about her project’s success. “As actors, we don’t have the responsibility of the whole show being a success or not. It’s our job to make our characters believable and memorable. I think, even if Balika Vadhu hadn’t been a success, people would have remembered my character, Anandi.” Avika will soon be seen in the adventure reality show, Khatron Ke Khiladi.
