Iam having a great time hosting shows and connecting with people,” says Ravi Dubey, who is enjoying anchoring reality shows of late and has decided to work on a show for not more than three to four months. Explaining, he says, “The idea of doing back-to-back hosting assignments is because I have decided to be part of shortterm projects. It’s not that I don’t want to do fiction but I surely don’t want to have any long-term commitments. I made this decision post Jamai Raja and unfortunately, no fiction show is planned for a three-month period or is season based. When you are on a project for a limited amount of time, you can be excited from the beginning to the end. I don’t want to be in a space where while working on a show, I feel ‘when will this end?’ or I’m trying to find reasons to justify doing the show in the first place.”

Ravi recalls that though Jamai Raja was on air for three years, his character got different get-ups and roles to essay on the show. “I got to play 22 different roles via disguises on that show, including an old man, a woman and a ghost. Every three months, the story gave me ‘new’ roles which kept me going,” he says.

After his hit TV show Jamai Raja ended in 2017, Ravi has participated in the adventure reality show Khatron Ke Khiladi 8, been a part of the comedy show Entertainment Ki Raat and later hosted Rising Star Season 2. He is currently hosting a new game show while waiting for the release of his debut Hindi film 3 Dev, which was a bit delayed. Did the delay affect his morale? He says, “Nothing in the world can affect my morale negatively. Not many people can say that, I think. I am convinced about the fact that the universe is tilted in my favour. The good decisions and even the not so good things that happen, happen for a reason. I say this due to the experiences in my life. Not once but many times, everything that has happened in my life has contributed to my growth. I failed my engineering and had that not happened, I wouldn’t have tried my luck in acting and wouldn’t be living my dream today. If you truly believe that everything happens for a reason, you will see unforeseen miracles in life.”
