Kareena and Shashanka’s special titles for Swara
Swara Bhasker’s next film, Veere Di Wedding, is special to her for several reasons. The actor, who shares the screen space with Kareena Kapoor Khan, Sonam Kapoor Ahuja and Shikha Talsania in the film, had a blast working on the movie. “The actor shared a great camaraderie with her team to the extent that they referred to her as ‘method ki maa’ and ‘thinking actor’, which are titles given to her by director Shashanka Ghosh and Kareena respectively,” says a source.
Swara says, “Often, when actors work together for a film, they tend to bond with each other, especially when they have long shooting schedules. Working with Sonam, Kareena and Shikha was truly a memorable experience, which I’ll always cherish. I would laugh when Kareena and Shashanka sir gave me those titles.
“Kareena is great fun to be with, and a fantastic team player. She really brought a lot of fun and zest to the sets. Sonam is amongst my favourite people and we share a unique chemistry, and Shikha and I also bonded really well. We had a blast.”
Talking about the titles, she adds, “I’m not actually a method actor or a purist of any school of acting preparation. My process is a mishmash of my own ideas and more traditional acting exercises. I prepare for characters depending on the specifications of the role. Some films need intense prep, and some need imaginative prep.” About the importance of training for actors, she adds, “I’m not formally trained as an actor, so I’m very focussed in training. I attend a lot of workshops whenever I can to hone my skills. I think that one can train and learn from multiple sources. It’s not necessary to go to acting school. You just have to have an attitude to learn”
