A quiet birthday for Dilip Joshi

- Kavita Awaasthi

Dilip Joshi who turns a year older today says he doesn’t like the fuss around his birthday. “I always visit a temple and take my parents’ blessings. Other than that, spending time with family is on the list. I don’t know if I will be shooting for my sitcom on my birthday yet,” says the actor who has been starring in his sitcom since the last ten years. Dilip says he prefers quiet birthdays. “I would rather spend time at home with my family as I am busy shooting most of the time. Quality time with them feels like a gift. I don’t like being extravagant or partying,” he adds.

The actor recalls his 40th birthday, which was celebrated by the entire cast and crew of his TV show on the sets. “It was special as they all made great efforts to make the day special. Also, another birthday celebration that I remember is when I took my family for a trip to France in 2015. My childhood friends accompanied us and we all had a lovely time in South of France, Cannes, Monte Carlo, and of course, Paris. We did touristy stuff, visited monuments and went to the countryside.”

Dilip was in Paris at the same time as the blasts. The actor and his family had left Paris on the day of the blasts. “Even though we were not in Paris, it was quite scary. The atmosphere was sombre and there was a lot of tension everywhere,” he says.

Dilip, who has been shooting for his sitcom for ten years, says it feels like they began yesterday. “There is always high energy on the sets which has kept us going all these years. ”
