Fan love still pours in for Padmavati

- Prashant Singh

It has been close to six months now since Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat hit the theatres, but lead actor Deepika Padukone continues to receive immense love and admiration for her royal outing as queen Padmavati. On June 9, the actor was “overwhelmed” to see her fans’ love all over again.

“Saturday saw a number of Deepika’s hardcore fans thronging Gaiety-Galaxy theatre, in Bandra West, to watch Padmaavat. Within minutes, the evening show was packed to capacity. The fan club took to social media and posted pictures of Deepika’s admirers at the theatre while they waited to watch the film again,” says an insider close to the actor.

When Deepika’s team brought this to the actor’s notice, she immediately responded that her fans’ gesture was “immensely special” and that she wanted to thank everyone “for all the love”. When contacted, Deepika told us, “Honestly, the love for Padmaavat hasn’t stopped pouring in ever since its release. It feels really great. The love and commitment of my fans is overwhelming. I cannot thank them enough for all that they do for me.”

During the original release of Padmaavat in January this year, hordes of Deepika’s fans had thronged the first day, first show, and posted details on Twitter. In fact, a unique fan club, ‘Dp1stDay1stShow’, had emerged at the release of the historical drama.

Clearly, her fans haven’t yet had enough of their favourite actor’s royal avatar.
