‘I do films like a job to which I give my 100%’

- Prashant Singh n prashant.singh@htlive.com

She had a dream start to her Bollywood career with MS Dhoni: The Untold Story (2016), followed by another big hit, Baaghi 2, this year. It’s a long way to have come for the actor, who was born in Uttarakhand and grew up in Bareilly. Disha Patani looks back at her early life, as she talks about career, journey till date and more.

You must be on cloud nine…

Of course, I am happy and grateful but I also feel very lucky. Honestly, it’s very difficult to tell whether a film will work or not. So, what you can only think about is whether you like the story and your part. Luckily, I love whatever I have done in both the films.

How has your journey been?

I am a very neutral person, so I’m never too happy or too sad. It’s almost like I take acting as a job. So, I never thought, ‘I will be famous, and this or that will happen’. For me, my work is like going for a daily job, to which I am going to give my 100%, without thinking about the result. In a way, I look at a good film in the same way that someone thinks about a promotion.

But all of it must have come with its own set of challenges?

I surely found them challenging because I was petrified of Neeraj sir (Pandey; director of the Dhoni biopic) as he doesn’t talk much and doesn’t film many takes, so you have to give your 100%. Also, I played a very simple girl, which I am not in real life. Baaghi 2 was still more challenging as I was playing a mother which I am not.

You continue to be a big favourite of ad world…

I really enjoy the ad world as I used to be a model. I love shooting for ad films.

By now, are you used to the film industry?

I’m sort of anti-social (laughs), so, I don’t know what’s going around. I’m living a normal life; I have a cat, a dog, and a house. Also, I am a very restless person, So, I am doing something or the other all day.

You’ve signed Bharat opposite Salman Khan. Excited?

I’m super-excited to work with Salman sir. I’ve watched his films while growing up and I just can’t wait to shoot with him.

Your personal life (she has been linked to Tiger Shroff) is almost always in the news. Do you ever get bothered?

That’s okay. Everyone goes through it, so I am not the only one. Honestly, I don’t even count it [in my priority list]. I have many more challenges to focus on including the fact that I have to prove myself with every film. I don’t even subscribe to newspapers.
