Omung Kumar works for a noble initiative
Besides film-making and art direction, Omung Kumar dedicates his time to social work as well. He is an ardent lover of strays and abandoned pets. So now, he has decided to design the 2019 AMTM (Animal Matters To Me) fundraising calendar. AMTM is an NGO in Mumbai committed to the welfare of stray dogs, cats, birds and all kinds of species with the goal of bringing all the animals together, especially the ones who are in a bad shape, old, sick, blind or handicapped.
“Omung and his wife Vanita have been constantly supporting AMTM silently for the past eight years. On being approached to design this year’s calendar, Omung agreed as he believes that with this association, he could express his love for dogs in the smallest way possible. Thus he has gone ahead to paint the actual rescues in the AMTM rehab facility,” says a source.
Omung says, “We are designing this year’s AMTM calendar. My wife Vanita and I, are attached to AMTM for the past eight years. Vanita is quite attached with AMTM. The work they do for our four-legged friends is commendable. So when they asked me whether I would be interested in designing this year’s calendar, I readily agreed. I wanted to make it special and not just use photographs to make the calendar. And the thought of painting each and every picture in my style dawned on me, to make it more special. So I’m back to my old love which is painting. By selling these calendars, we would be helping AMTM and all the animals that are there. Post that, I would be auctioning the original paintings too.”
