Brighten B up your look with white
Are you thinking of painting grey monsoons with a dash of colour as well as dare? How about giving those bright blues and popping pinks a rest and going for soothing whites instead?
White has made quite a bold statement this monsoon with many leading names from Bollywood wearing allwhite ensembles to various events. So if you ever doubted the might of white, now is the time to throw caution to the winds (well, literally) and make a visually delightful appearance in white. GETTING STARTED Designer Rina Dhaka feels that living in a tropical country, white garments are essential for us. “You automatically lean towards white. It can never go out of fashion,” she says. If you want to dress practically, then loosen it up. “I go to work in comfy three-quarter pants, white top and flip flops,” adds Dhaka.
Designer Anand Bhushan, advises that as far as the length of the dress or pants you are wearing is concerned, it is better to keep it short.
“Try to keep it above the knee or an inch to inch-anda-half under the knee. White is a very versatile hue; it is an all-year colour. You should never feel tied back that you cannot wear white during the monsoon,” says Bhushan.
A GUIDE TO WHITE FABRICS FOR MONSOON
While opting for a monsoonfriendly fabric, go for materials that can allow you to breathe. Fabrics such as linen and cotton are comfortable on the skin. “You can use sheer fabrics. For evenings, you can opt for white organza and indulge in soft layering in monsoon,” says Bhushan.
If you are opting for an all-white ensemble, make sure that you avoid white footwear at all costs because shoes endure the worst of the weather. “Avoid white footwear because they get spoilt very quickly,” cautions Bhushan.
