Playing Prerna is a privilege for me: Erica J Fernandes

Erica J Fernandes is thrilled about her new role in the remake of the popular television show Kasautii Zindagii Kay. She will essay the part of Prerna Sharma in the reboot of Ekta Kapoor’s superhit show. Excited about her new show, Erica feels it will be a “challenge” for her to play the part. “The whole thing — the offer and getting on board — happened quite suddenly. After I signed the show, the magnitude of the situation hit me. It’s different from the roles that I have played earlier. The character is that of a strong and determined woman, who goes through a lot at a very early stage in life and has to be tough to deal with certain things. Playing Prerna is a privilege for me because I have grown up watching this show and to play Prerna, today, makes me wonder if this, me playing the part, is real (laughs). It feels surreal.”

Erica, who has done a few Tamil, Kannada and Telugu films, and debuted on Indian television with the TV show Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi co-starring Shaheer Sheikh, is all for rebooting old hit shows. “I feel originals will always be originals. Ekta Kapoor’s social media posts created a lot of buzz about the show which is still in casting stages. Erica says she is looking forward to starting the shoot for the show soon. Talking about her career, she says, “I am happy with my career and where I am. It is all thanks to God’s blessings and wishes from my fans.”
