‘My relationships are not for public consumption’
Priyanka Chopra, though not talking anything about her rumoured boyfriend Nick Jonas or leaving Salman Khan’s Bharat for a Hollywood film, has finally, somewhat, talked about the whole thing.
At an interactive session held for FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO) in Delhi, she was asked by the moderator Vir Sanghvi about how she deals with trolling and gossip about her life. She said, “It’s water off my back, unless it affects the people I love or affects sentiments. I am a sensitive person, and not unnecessarily malicious. I don’t walk around trying to hurt people. Unless I have done something which has affected someone, I really don’t care.”
She went on to talk about the excessive attention that is directed towards a celebrity’s life. “Everything about me is not for public consumption, especially my personal life. 90% of my life is for public consumption, but 10% of it is for me. I am a girl and I have the right to keep that to myself. Sometimes I laugh, sometimes I get annoyed [about the constant paparazzi]… But mostly, I tell my publicists ‘Let it be, today’s news is tomorrow’s trash’.”
When questioned further about who comes under that ‘10%’, Priyanka quickly said, “My family, my personal life…” but when asked if “personal life means, like boyfriend?”, Priyanka said, “My relationships, my friendships, my equations with people, are things which I don’t need to explain or defend.”
Priyanka was extracareful about what she spoke during the hour-long event. At one point, when FLO president Pinky Reddy wanted to ask her something ‘which everyone wants to know’, Priyanka was quick to say “Sambhal ke poochna” (ask with caution) and burst into a giggle after that.
