For years, Bollywood films have had a tryst with various foreign locales. Now, the makers of Thugs of Hindostan have gone a step further by establishing a Game of Thrones connection with their film.

“Given its genre (fantasy action adventure), the makers of Thugs of Hindostan wanted to create a unique and extraordinary visual spectacle that is set as an adventure on the high seas. So, they travelled across the globe to scout for locations that heightens the storytelling. As a result, one of its shooting locations turned out to be Malta, where the global cult TV series, Game of Thrones was filmed,” says an insider, close to the film.

The insider maintains that Malta has “some very uncommon, incredible spots that look outstanding”. Adds the insider: “It is also a place that not many people have been to, or seen, so there will be novelty for everyone to see the breath-taking visuals,” says the insider.

Apparently, director Vijay Krishna Acharya has researched and dedicated a lot of time to set the film — which is a fantasy adventure — in a period that no one has seen or has a reference point of. “This makes the film look unique and fresh. Malta is an untapped territory for Hindi films and it only adds incredible visual appeal,” says the insider.

The Aamir Khan-Amitabh Bachchan starrer has also been shot in the rainforests of Thailand and the deserts and palaces of Rajasthan. The film also stars actors Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana

Shaikh.

APPARENTLY, DIRECTOR VIJAY KRISHNA ACHARYA HAS RESEARCHED AND DEDICATED LOT OF TIME TO SET THE FILM — WHICH IS A FANTASY ADVENTURE — IN A PERIOD THAT NO ONE HAS SEEN OR HAS A REFERENCE POINT OF.
