RICHA CHADHA IS EXCITED TO PLAY SHAKEELA

Shakeela to help Richa Chadha with her styling and looks for the biopic based on the former actor’s life

Preparations are on in full swing by Richa Chadha, who plays yesteryear Malayalam actor Shakeela in an upcoming biopic. Shakeela, who has acted in several adult films in Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu and Kannada, is going to be helping Richa with a lot of prep. Reportedly, Shakeela is taking a keen interest in the film’s making.

A source close to the actor reveals, “Richa met Shakeela before they began shooting. She wanted to meet her in person to get her perspective on the film, get her personal insights. This helped Richa a lot. Not just before the shoot, even now Shakeela is mentoring Richa on the nuances of the role, the outfits, the look, etc. Everything is being guided to maintain authenticity. Richa is elated to have Shakeela be such an imperative and crucial part of the process because she doesn’t want to miss out on her inputs.”

Talking about the experience of being a part of the biopic, the Fukrey Returns (2017) actor had said in an earlier interview, “Growing up in Delhi, I wasn’t aware of the sensation that Shakeela was. But I remember that a leading magazine did a cover story on her. I was intrigued by her story, by this heroine who looked so different from everyone else, yet had confidence and dignity. Shakeela is an unlikely protagonist. She has courageously opened up about her life — flaws and all. Her life sounds like a very dramatic screenplay. I am excited because it’s my first biopic.”
