‘I ASPIRE TO DO A LOT OF THINGS’
Actor Jacqueline Fernandez, who celebrates her birthday today, says she goes with the flow
For someone who has had a double treat with two hits at the box office, Jacqueline Fernandez is having a great year workwise. With Judwaa 2 and Race 3 becoming two of the highest grossing films, a successful dance tour overseas, and an upcoming commercial outing in the pipeline, the actor has her kitty full. As she says, it has been a super-packed schedule. Jacqueline, who cuts the birthday cake today, is now in Europe to celebrate with her close ones. Excerpts from an interview:
So, what is your plan for the day? Birthdays become celebratory only because the people who are close to you do sweet things that make you feel special. This year, so far, has been hectic and I’m glad that I could take off for a small getaway with my family. Spending quality time with them was long overdue.
Are you a typical Leo?
I’m not sure if I am a typical Leo but I’m sure there are some common traits, considering Leos are optimistic, loyal and headstrong (smiles).
You’ve had two hits in recent months. Do you consider the socalled formula films a safer bet? And do you have a strategy when it comes to signing movies?
I don’t have any strategy; I go with my gut. My idea of a good film is the one where the audience is thoroughly entertained. The audience comes to a cinema hall to be entertained, and if I come across a film that does that, I do it. I’m an entertainer and I love every bit of what I do.
You recently launched your own brand. Do you have sharp business acumen?
My brand was the result of my desire to cater to the need-gap in active wear with offerings that would be fashionable and unabashedly feminine. The aim was to create something that seamlessly fused innovative design, function, and high fashion for young Indian women. As for the business side of things, I’m working with a bunch of professionals who are great at what they do.
Do you also intend to launch your production house in the future? At the moment, I’m enjoying the process of playing different characters. As for having my own production house in the future, I don’t know what the future holds, but like they say, ‘Never say never’. As long as it is connected to the process of filmmaking, I’m game for being a part of anything.
Do you have any resolutions for the year? And are you good at keeping them?
There are a lot of things that I aspire to do with all my heart, but I make sure that I’m not burdened with my own wish to do those things. If I am passionate about something and I want it bad, I’ll work towards it anyway. I ensure that it happens in its own time.
I’m not sure if I am a typical Leo but I’m sure there are some common traits.
