The trailer of Gali Guleiyan is out now
The trailer for two timeNational Award winner Manoj Bajpayee’s latest film, Gali Guleiyan (In the Shadows), has been released. The film is a Hindi psychological drama and has been directed by Los Angelesbased debutant film-maker and winner of the Directors’ Guild of America Award, Dipesh Jain.
The gritty trailer underlines Manoj’s portrayal of a man trapped within the walls and alleys of Old Delhi and his own mind, who attempts to break free to find a human connection. He is supported in the film by an ensemble cast that includes Ranvir Shorey, Neeraj Kabi, Shahana Goswami and debutant child actor, Om Singh.
Talking about the film and his character, Manoj says, “This is perhaps one of the most challenging roles that I’ve played. My character is complex with many layers. Hats off to Dipesh, who, despite being a newcomer, came up with such a great idea, made this challenging film and has taken it to festivals across the world. The adulation that the film has received has been overwhelming.”
Dipesh says, “When Shuchi (my sister and producer) and I started this journey, we felt that it was a bold and risky story, especially for a debut film. In many ways, it is an ode to my childhood years in the alleys of old Delhi — to my personal fears and a feeling of entrapment that I experienced as a child. To ensure the best look and feel, we had top of the line technicians work on it. The movie offers an immersive cinematic experience.”.
Gali Guleiyan has travelled to more than 20 international film festivals and has won accolades and awards along the way. These include the prestigious Busan International Film Festival, MAMI, 42nd Cleveland International Film Festival, the Indian Film Festival of Los Angles, Atlanta Film Festival, the New York Indian Film Festival and the on-going Indian Film Festival of Melbourne.
