Says Sonu Sood as he talks about accomplishing his lifelong dream of playing an army officer in his next film

Sonu Sood, who recently turned a year older on July 30, did not have a huge celebration. Instead, he chose to spend the day with his family and friends and visited a temple to pray and seek his late parents’ blessings. After Sonu lost his father in 2016, the actor says that he misses his parents the most on this day and doesn’t have the heart to celebrate without them.

“As a kid, I was super excited to celebrate my birthday because my mum and dad would throw this huge bash and invite all my friends. But after I lost them, the will to celebrate, especially on my birthday, is absolutely gone. I’ve spent most of my birthdays with them. If I was shooting or travelling, they

would come along with me. I’m sure wherever they are, they would be showering me with blessings. Any celebration is going to be incomplete without them,” says the actor, who is currently shooting for Manikarnika and Simbaa.

He is also super excited to finally don the uniform as he plays the role of an army officer in JP Dutta’s Paltan. “It’s an honour for me to play a

soldier. An actor’s life is incomplete until he plays an army officer’s role. It was way back in the 2000s when I met JP Sir and introduced myself. I remember a couple of years later, he got in touch with me and said that we would definitely work together. Now that it has finally happened, I am so honoured to be part of a film that speaks about such an important period in Indian history,” says the Happy New Year (2014) actor.
