Improve your vision naturally by adopting these five exercises

If your day starts and ends with pouring over your smartphone or computer, then you may end up suffering from eye fatigue and eye diseases. But there is a lot that you can do to boost your eyesight. Eat right and opt for antioxidan­t-rich foods such as leafy greens, egg yolks, yellow pepper, pumpkin, sweet potatoes, and carrots. Yellow and green vegetables also help in preventing blindness.

Include fish in your diet and foods that are rich in sulphur such as garlic and onions that prevent cataract. Here are five exercises for healthy eyes:

■ Palming: This exercise relieves stress and boosts eyesight. Rub your palms together to generate heat, and gently place them against your eyes for a few seconds. Repeat five times.

■ Eye rolling: This is another beneficial exercise. Roll your eyes a few times in clockwise direction. Then take a break, and roll them anti-clockwise. Repeat five times.

■ Refocusing : It is a good exercise for your eye muscles. At intervals, look away from your screen to the farthest thing or place that you can see. It can be the end of the corridor, the office room or the farthest building you see from a window. Put your thumb down in front of your eyes, and focus on the thumb for a few seconds followed by the distant place. Repeat five times.

■ Blinking: It helps improve one’s eyesight. You’ll need a blank wall and a place to sit. Close your eyes for two seconds, then open them and blink rapidly for five seconds. Repeat five times.

■ 20-20-20 rule: This exercise helps you enhance your vision to see distant objects. Every 20 minutes, look at something located 20 feet away for 20 seconds.

REFOCUSING IS A GOOD EXERCISE FOR YOUR EYE MUSCLES. AT INTERVALS, LOOK AWAY FROM YOUR SCREEN TO THE FARTHEST THING OR PLACE THAT YOU CAN SEE.
