Sweet endings in Juhu

Tucked away in a cosy nook on the bustling Juhu Tara Road is B - Kitchen & Bar. We were recommended to book a prior reservation as the place had a knack to be packed on Friday nights, often hosting live gigs and DJs. Although we called much in advance, we were offered tables in the al fresco dining area. Which wasn’t all that bad, given the pleasant weather and greenery surrounding the seating area. The décor was minimalist yet very modern and plush.

On arriving there, we were promptly seated at our table and handed menus. The place was dimly lighted which made reading the menus quite difficult. We decided to start with the Prawns And Olives Kebab (₹650), which consisted prawns marinated in feta, lime and olive oil served on a bed of cous cous. Every bit its money’s worth, the prawns were juicy, fresh and delicious, and the slight tanginess of the cous cous beautifully complemented the olives. The portion was huge for a starter, which was a pleasant surprise. Next up on the list was the Anticuchos Chicken Skewers (₹400). Served with a mint and cilantro dip, these skewers too filled up a great portion of our stomachs but were nothing extraordinary in its taste and could be skipped for better options.

We paired our food with house special cocktails suggested by the maître d’, a Spiked Thai Ice Tea (₹550) and a Sangria Rosso (₹550). The spiked ice tea with watermelon and kaffir lime was flavourful and refreshing while the sangria failed to impress as much, owing to its watery texture. The two starters were enough to fill us up and get us all ready for dessert, skipping mains in the process.

We opted for Cuba (₹500), which was a concoction of chocolate ganache, Oreo ash, rum-soaked raisins and praline ice cream. Presented beautifully, this particular dish was quite a hit with my counterpart, while I preferred another dessert from their menu called Campfire Stories (₹500). A creation consisting 70% dark chocolate sauce, s’mores and chocolate brownies, it was the highlight of my meal.

The staff was helpful when asked questions, however, they remained a bit inattentive throughout our meal. The food was well worth its price and the whole experience made for a good Friday night out.
