Shahid, Shraddha speak local dialect in their next

-

Ever since it was released, the trailer of Batti Gul Meter Chalu, starring Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor, has been receiving love from the audiences. The songs, released over the last month, continue to rule the charts, too. After the success of Toilet - Ek Prem Katha, director Shree Narayan Singh is back with another social drama that talks about electricity issues in small cities.

Singh, along with the writers Siddharth and Garima, went through extensive research to maintain the authenticity that was needed in the film. Since the film is set in Uttarakhand, the characters speak Garhwali, which is the local dialect of the state. To keep the essence of the story intact, the film has majorly been shot in the city of Tehri in Uttarakhand. Shahid and Shraddha, along with the other cast also took lessons to get the language right.

Singh says the biggest challenge was maintaining the commercial accept without losing out on the authencity and facts of the subject matter. “I was lucky to have a great team onboard. All the actors, producers, writers and the crew had the right mindset and unanimous thought process. I thoroughly enjoyed making this film,” he says.

Producer Bhushan Kumar of T-Series adds, “As people who are in the business of telling stories, it is imperative and important for filmmakers to be true to the world in which they place their characters. Don’t they say jaisa des vaisa bhes? While the film is essentially in Hindi, Shree Narayan Singh has used key colloquial phrases and words to give it an authentic touch. I am sure it will be appreciated.”

The film also stars Yami Gautam and Divyendu Sharma in pivotal roles.

Batti Gul Meter Chalu, produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Nitin Chandrachud, Kusum Arora and Nishant Pitti, releases on September 21.
