Online fitness training is the latest fad every workout enthusiast seems to have taken to. A lot of trainers are making money through this and there are people who are ready to take it up online. But, does it really work? We speak to trainers and people taking it up to find out.

Fitness expert Gaurav Rana, who works as a fitness trainer and also trains people online, says, “I have 10 clients and my course tenure is of three months. All my clients approached me online looking at my profile and since they found my body impressive, they expressed the urge to get trained. My clients are from India and overseas. ”

Talking about the results, the 30-year-old says, “In 90% of the cases people are able to achieve their target through online training. However, this course is not for beginners because you need proper guidance with exercises without which you would be doing it in the wrong way and you will not see any result.”

Rana is not the only one who provides online fitness training to people. There are endless fitness experts on social media who are into this training and minting moolah. Fitness trainer Farhan Khan, who has 36.4K followers on Instagram, says, “When someone approaches me for online training, I ask them about their goals. Keeping in mind the number of weeks it will take to achieve it, I make their fitness chart. The fitness community is growing at a fast pace in India and with more and more people are taking fitness seriously. We have this new age of online fitness training, which is booming.”

Pulkit Tandon, a 28-year-old software engineer, took to this programme recently and it worked for him because he didn’t have time to go to the gym because of his work. Since he had hit the gym during his college days, he knew the right forms of exercises and he just had to be told how and what all he had to do. “I took an online course with an international fitness trainer. It worked for me and I did see the result,” he says.

While this programme has a lot of takers, it hasn’t worked for few. Nikita Malhotra, a 38year-old homemaker took this online training programme because her 14-year-old son, suggested it to her. She says, “Since I was never into fitness, I had a couple of difficulties during the course. Though I followed the diet plan given by my trainer, the result wasn’t what I had expected it to be. I feel it was majorly because I didn’t have any trainer to correct me while I was doing those exercises.”
