Iam not feeling excited about my birthday this year. Maybe I have grown up,” says actor Nia Sharma, who isn’t in the mood to throw a party. “I don’t feel the need to ‘celebrate’. Moreover, people are busy with Ganeshotsav and I am busy with shooting every day too. I haven’t had the time to figure out any plan either. But, I have kept a dress and shoes ready as back up, in case I decide to meet some friends in the evening (laughs). Every year, my mum gifts me a birthday dress and she has done so this year too.”

The 28-year-old recalls the big birthday bash she threw two years ago, which was attended by many popular faces from television. She had invited 30 friends and was thrilled that everyone turned up. She says, “I don’t like the idea of calling 150 people and only 110 turning up. I remember we all danced like crazy that night as all of my friends love to dance. We partied till the wee hours of the morning and it was one memorable night.”

The Jamai Raja actor started acting when she was 20 and Nia feels she has come a long way and matured as a person in the industry. She says, “I never had the privilege of a carefree life. People who don’t have a father, mature quickly and so did I. Over the last few years, I feel I have matured a lot. I don’t live in my la-la land or think I am the hottest diva. Such titles don’t sound right to me. I don’t live in denial or think that my life is so beautiful. I have grown closer to reality in life. I have realised that I have to make a life for myself as there is no one else who will give me things on a platter.”

Nia has made some decisions in life and says her aim is to be a better person every day and grow as a person. She adds, “I want to live a life that is rich and the kind that when I look back, I shouldn’t have any regrets. Workwise, I have travelled a lot and been part of some really good projects. I want do some great roles that people remember and gain respect for my work. Now, I want to build a good life for myself. I want to make a castle and then find my king (laughs).”
