A comic perspective to the Bollywood madness
Films might be known by their lead actors, but are complete only when all the characters — lead or supporting — are in sync. Take for instance, Kunaal Roy Kapur’s role in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani — movie buffs might applaud his fine acting skills, but for some, he’s a side actor while some others know of him because of his family’s popularity.
So, what’s it like for him, being ‘almost famous’ in real and reel life. Eros Now, India’s premiere video OTT platform, brings a hilarious and selfdeprecating
take on Kunaal’s struggle to be the preferred hero in its first original series, Side Hero.
Starring Kunaal Roy Kapur, Gauahar Khan, Arjun Kanungo and Gopal Dutt, the series will have appearances by Shakti Kapoor, Konkona Sen Sharma and Sumeet Vyas.
Directed by Rohan Sippy, the eight episodes will portray Kunaal’s pursuit of fame often leading to disastrous yet
comical results.
Sharing the intent behind the series, Ridhima Lulla, chief content officer, Eros Group, says, “Side Hero is our way of bringing a unique and comic perspective to the madness of Bollywood, with an endearing narrative that will make you chuckle out loud.”
Sippy feels that Kunaal was an “ideal collaborator and subject” for this show. “His self-deprecating persona
allows us to make fun of him and ourselves, and capture the madness of behind-the-scenes of an actor’s life. The filmi nature of the show fits seamlessly with what Eros Now stands for, which made them perfect partners,” he adds.
Episodes of Side Hero start streaming on September 24, exclusively on Eros Now-Bolo Kya Dekhogey.
