After being part of movies such as Baby (2015) and Naam Shabana (2017), and TV shows including the fantasy drama Chandrakanta, that ended recently, actor Madhurima Tuli is currently shooting for a digital show. She says, “As an actor, it is exciting to work across different mediums. I want to grab roles that push the envelope, without thinking of the platform. If you are doing films, you can do TV and vice versa. As long as the character is fun and you enjoy playing the role, the medium becomes secondary. Let’s see, where my life takes me (laughs).”

After Chandrakanta, Madhurima got many offers of TV shows, “from a detective show, a psycho-thriller to a cop’s story ”. “But the web show excited me the most. Moreover, every actor wants to do films, and so do I, but let’s see what comes my way. Workwise, I am going with the flow. I am not taking things too seriously. I am not rushing into things.”

Having acted in a costumedrama, she had to work hard not only on carrying the ensembles well, but also performing action on screen. Madhurima admits she learnt a lot from the show. She says, “The show made me stronger as an actor. I would shoot 12 hours every day with a hectic pace. I was learning dialogues in chaste Hindi and doing stunts, so there was a lot going on every day. I feel I have become more confident as an actor.”

Madhurima was dating her Chandrakanta co-star Vishal Aditya Singh but the duo split recently. Reluctant to talk about it, she says, “You do fall in love and sometimes it works out and sometimes it doesn’t. This time it didn’t. It was unfortunate for both of us, I guess. I am not thinking of dating anyone right now. I am not in that headspace. But I also believe that love is something that just happens and you can’t plan it.”

I want to grab roles that push the envelope, without thinking of platforms. If you’re doing films, you can do TV too. MADHURIMA TULI, ACTOR
