After staying away from small screen fiction, Karan Wahi has been acting in back-to-back web projects. The actor’s latest web series recently released and he signed on his third web show too. It seems he is quite confident about the medium now. Karan, who is thrilled with the growth of the web content, says, “It is a win-win situation for actors and audiences as both benefit from good content. The digital medium is growing exponentially and its growth is great for everyone including actors, film-makers, technicians and audiences. We needed a show like Sacred Games to push the appeal of web shows to a higher tangent.”

Karan feels that with lesser restrictions and opportunities for risky narratives, web has become an interesting and exciting medium. He adds, “Earlier, producers would worry or not understand the return on investment which stopped many. But today, film-makers are getting a hang of it and are interested

in making great content which is the need of the hour.” Though he has acted in many TV shows and hosted reality shows too, he seems to have found his groove on the web. Ask him if this is possibly the best phase of his career so far, and he says, “Right now, I am enjoying myself thoroughly. Web is a good amalgamatio n of the logistics of TV and grandeur of films. One can do multiple web shows and play new characters whereas one is committed for a longer duration on a TV show. I haven’t done fiction shows for the longest time and back then people used to say, I wasn’t doing fiction because I was interested in nonfiction shows. I used to say and maintain that I would work on any medium till I enjoy my work.”

Karan has been admired for his good looks and physique and while he doesn’t mind that, he feels people should look at his talent too. He says, “For the longest time, people would talk about my looks and body but not work. As an actor, I want people to talk about my work, even if they don’t like it. I understand where it comes from as looks and body are given a lot of importance. But people need to get over it as one gets work not just for the body but talent too. I do things on an impulse and I don’t bother about whether it will work or not? A project becoming a hit or not is not in my hands. I can only do my best and leave the rest to the audiences.”
