With three web series in hand, Barun Sobti has had a busy year. The Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon actor, who featured in a digital show Tanhaiyan in February last year, feels the digital medium has grown tremendously since then. He says, “Back then, it had just started, but now many people are working on the digital platform and it is booming. It is a critical time for the digital medium, and how it grows and what happens to it in the next one year, will decide how the web prospers. Moreover, it is also an important time for actors, as what we choose and do now will shape the future. It is a great time to be an actor today as you have a lot to choose from.”

While he has been busy shooting for the three web shows, his fans are always eager to see more of him on screen. Does he feel the need to do more work? “Not really. A few years ago, there was little good work that came my way and even then, I would do projects that appealed to me. I was prepared to wait. Thankfully, I am pretty busy right now. I have a number of good projects with such interesting stories that I am happy with the work I am doing. I have quite the packed schedule these days,” says Barun, adding, “I have been a good judge of projects. It is usually based on instinct. And so, I would recommend people not to think too much about the fate of their projects but to focus on the experience of it. I believe you should do something only if you like it.”

His latest project is a web series about a troubled family, he is also working on a psychological thriller costarring Arshad Warsi, a political drama and a gangster drama.

While Barun is not very active on social media, he feels most people do not know how to use it. The Tu Hai Mera Sunday (2017) actor says, “I don’t read comments on social media. Moreover, you don’t know who the other person actually is. It would be great if people knew how to use social media, however, sadly they don’t. A handful of people know how to use the power of social media but sadly, social media is more about increasing followers and

[making] money.”
