There may be five days left for Halloween, celebrated annually on October 31, but preparations for the day by city eateries and cafés are in full swing. Widely celebrated in Europe and America, this festival has gained popularity in urban areas in a short span of time. Harman Singh Sawhney, head chef, Hoppipola, says, “The concept of demons has always been part of Indian mythology. This, coupled with people looking for more reasons to celebrate, has made Halloween acceptable.”

“There are so many people who are extremely obsessed with playing dress up, Halloween gives them another reason to celebrate,” adds Cyrus Irani, culinary director, Hard Rock Café India.

Over the last decade, there have been an increasing number of restaurants that have begun catering Halloween-themed snacks and desserts for its customers. And today, chefs begin preparing for the occasion weeks in advance, curating special menus with themed dishes, desserts and drinks. Also, Halloween-themed parties hosted by restaurants and celebrities have also become a fad.

Chefs leave no stone unturned in ensuring that their creations look spook-worthy! From the Frankenstein-inspired Chicken Frank Burger to Stree — a drink inspired by the recently released horrorcomedy movie by the same name, the culinary space in the city faces no dearth of creativity. Chefs explain their inspiration behind these frighteningly delicious dishes and drinks, that will surely make it a fright night.
