Five breakfast styles from different parts of the world
Breakfast is known as the most important meal of the day, giving us the fuel to face the challenges that lie ahead. It is known well that not skipping breakfast helps with weight management.
Different countries have their own staple breakfast routines. In European countries such as France and Spain, a piece of bread or pastry with strong coffee is what comprises breakfast. On the other hand, in Korea, breakfast is almost an event that has the entire table packed with all sorts of food items.
We look at some of the types of breakfasts that people have in different parts of the world:
CHINA
Although what you have in the morning differs according to the region you are in, a combination of fried dough sticks and soy milk is the common meal in the country. Other popular options are dim sum and hot soups.
AUSTRALIA
Vegemite, a thick, black spread made from leftover brewers’ yeast extract with vegetable and spice additives, is a favourite dish in Australia. They also like to begin their day with lots of fruits.
BRAZIL
A staple breakfast comprises a coffee along with ham, bread and cheese. Feijoada, which is a thick soup made from different meats and black beans is also a popular choice.
CUBA
Tostada, or grilled, buttered bread, is served along with cafe con leche (Spanish coffee made with strong and bold coffee with overcooked milk).
ENGLAND
English breakfast is probably the most famous breakfast style in the world, and includes eggs, sausages, beans, cooked tomatoes and mushrooms.
IN COUNTRIES LIKE FRANCE AND SPAIN, BREAD OR PASTRY WITH STRONG COFFEE IS WHAT COMPRISES BREAKFAST.
