Karanvir Bohra’s trip to Moscow, Russia, kicked off on a rather unusual note. To begin with, the actor was detained at Moscow airport owing to the damaged passport. He was invited as a chief guest for a Bollywood film festival in the capital city. “When I landed, there was a problem as my passport was a little damaged. Thankfully, I had immediate help from the Indian embassy back home and in Moscow. I was immediately issued a new passport and everything was sorted,” he says.

The next day, Karanvir listed out places which he wanted to visit. He had one day to explore. Equipped with clothing to blend in with the locals, the actor wore a faux fur hat, a jacket that resembled the look of the Russian military. “People were pretty surprised to see me in that avatar (laughs),” he says.

Karanvir visited The Moscow Kremlin, which overlooks the Moskva River, palaces and cathedrals. “I wanted to experience the scenic locales so I visited some of the touristy locations. However, the next time, I will try and explore more of the local places,” he adds.

He visited museums and other places where statues of popular playwrights and poets were erected. “These are playwrights and poets who we look up to and refer to their books in acting. It was interesting to see their works and statues,” adds Karanvir. He also went to the Moscow main stadium street, which was a crowd puller during the FIFA World Cup 2018.

Of course, he had to carry home souvenirs for his kids Bella and Vienna. “I gifted hem the Russian dolls and hey were thrilled. They were intrigued with the whole concept of it.”

With regard to food and drinks, Karanvir is a vegetarian and teetotaller. He tried their basic breads with mushroom fillings. To his surprise, he loved mingling with the locals especially because of their love for Bollywood. “The locals are extremely warm and absolutely love Bollywood,” he concludes.
