Actor Radhika Madan recalls her short trip to Edinburgh, Scotland, where she went around visiting the non-touristy destinations in the city.

Radhika says, “I was visiting a friend, who was completing an internship in Edinburgh. We turned the visit into a short, fun-filled trip.” The actor recollects one evening during her stay in the city, when all the shops and cafes in the area were closed. She says, “We had no idea that the stores, cafes and restaurants close down in the evenings on important holidays. We went around looking for places but we didn’t find anything. Finally, we checked online and we headed to a small cafe nearby. When we reached there, the owner was just about to close it. We requested her to give us a takeaway. But, she was very kind and kept the place open for 40 more minutes so we could have a meal.”

When in Edinburgh, Radhika didn’t opt for any mode of transport and preferred to walk it out. She wanted to experience the feel and vibe of the city. “I explored the city on foot and though it was freezing cold, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I eagerly waited for each morning, grabbed a cup of coffee and just walked down the streets. I visited the markets, carnivals and vintage stores. It was an interesting experience.”

When in Edinburgh, Radhika suggests that one must visit Arthur’s Seat. She adds, “It is the main peak of the group of hills in Edinburgh. The view from there is gorgeous.”

Unfortunately, Radhika could not binge-eat on local delicacies due to a professional commitment. “It was pretty sad that I could not indulge in the local cuisines. I had a very important look test and had to watch my weight. However, I did have a bite from the local fish and chips (laughs). But, for those who want to go all out, you must try all the food here, including the mulled wines,” she concludes.
