Guneet Monga’s next is shot on a mobile phone

- Pooja Sharma

Guneet Monga’s next production is a short film which was shot completely on a mobile phone. The film titled Chajjo Ke Dahi Bhalle was shot in Punjab a few weeks ago.

The filmmaker believes that as a content creator it is her job to be up to date with technology, which helps in adding value to art and makes shooting easier. The film is a story of neighbourly love in times of technology. Guneet says, “The film has been shot in mixed format, but most of it can be credited to the phone. Because of its the size, the phone was an accessible device that blends in easily. I am looking forward to making more movies this way. We shot this film in Amritsar and could get into by lanes and small markets and streets as we were shooting on a small device.”

The filmmaker adds that these days, a lot of people “have the power to shoot great stories just with the technology available to them through their smart phones”.

“A phone is less intrusive and makes logistics much simpler for formats like short films,” says Monga. The filmmaker admits that the trend will give rise to more impulsive filmmaking opening up the gamut of creating content to younger players, thus bringing in new energy and creativity. It could also be a kick-start for a new wave of guerrilla filmmaking in the country.
