‘I AM HAPPY I COULD GIVE MY FANS WHAT THEY WANTED’
Receiving appreciation for your effort feels wonderful, and singer Lakhwinder Wadali, son of Puran Chand Wadali of the Wadali Brothers, is going through a similar experience at the moment. His latest single, Mast Nazron Se, has been received well and the lyricist-singer is happy to announce that a couple of more songs are in the making.
“I usually sing sufi and folk songs. Mast Nazro Se is no different. Just that this time it has a Bollywood flavour to it. You still get that Qawwali feel but the Hindi lyrics did connect with a lot of audience. My fans had been requesting me to do something like this for a long time, and I am happy that I finally could. This was a new experience that has been extremely overwhelming. Recently, I had a performance in Solan (Himachal Pradesh), where I performed the song live and the feedback was amazing,” he says.
The singer also mentions that people have praised his work in the music video, which features TV actor-singer Sara Khan. “For the music video, we wanted to feature a female actor because it’s the romantic journey of a couple. We approached Sara and she readily agreed. We shot for three days in a few beautiful locations in Dubai, for which Sara has been extremely cooperative. The fact that she also enjoys singing helped. Sara even sung to me for feedback and she is planning to take up professional singing,” he adds.
Much like Mast Nazron Se, his next three songs are also romantic numbers. The work on the singles is currently in progress and Lakhwinder reveals that he plans to release them this year. Apart from this, he is also getting a lot of offers from Bollywood. He has already recorded a song for an upcoming film that is being bankrolled by actor Aamir Khan.
“I can only talk about it once they make the announcement. All I can say right now is that it’s a romantic song, a duet with Neeti Mohan. She is a wonderful singer. I’m also planning an album with my father. There are also offers from Punjabi films, but right now, I want to concentrate on Bollywood. I’ve been getting a lot of offers from the industry but I don’t want to rush into anything. Kapil Sharma ji has also asked us to be a part of his show. There are acting offers also, par papaji ka hokum hain ki gaana gana hain, aur mujhe bhi wahin pasand hain,” he concludes.
I’m also working on my next three singles and planning an album with my father. There are also offers from Punjabi films, but right now, I want to concentrate on Bollywood.
