When you are a newcomer in the film industry, there is a lot of pressure on you to prove your talent. But when you are also the younger brother of a National Awardwinning actor, who has had huge successes at the box office, then the amount of pressure certainly goes through the roof.

Last year, the Akshay Kumar-starrer Gold, brought Sunny Kaushal in the limelight. Vicky Kaushal’s younger brother, Sunny says his life has changed after the film. “Last year was fabulous as Gold released and people appreciated my work. This year, too, I have some interesting films coming up. It has been a fruitful journey so far.”

Ask him if people address him as Vicky’s brother or do they know him in the industry as Sunny Kaushal now, and he says, “Right now, people know me as Vicky’s brother, but that’s changing slowly. I am proud of being his brother, but somewhere, I want my name to shine as well and have my identity. I am working hard towards that goal. It took Vicky a couple of years to stand out and make a name for himself in the industry. Today, he has made his mark and I am sure it will happen for me too.”

Sunny reveals that he hasn’t had a conversation with Vicky regarding the path he should take in his career or moves he should avoid. He says, “Both of us never thought we would be where we are today or we would get this much in life. We went with the flow so things worked out for us. Now, we both want to keep it that way. Achcha kaam karna hai, bas. Zyada plan mat karo.”

After being part of an ensemble cast, Sunny chose to do lead roles in films. He admits that he purposely decided to take up only lead roles. Busy with three films including Shiddat and Hurdang, Sunny admits he was waiting for a time in his life where he is busy every day. “It is quite gratifying and fulfilling. It is good to know that your performance has had such an effect that people now have trust and faith in your abilities and are giving you work. I have three films lined up and it has been great,” says the 30year-old.
