I am going to focus on my acting career now, says Nora

She may have done a few roles here and there in Bollywood films, but Nora Fatehi’s claim to fame are her hit dance numbers. The 27-year-old, however, wants to change this and asserts that it’s time to step away from doing just dance numbers and focus on acting assignments.

“After all, I came to this country to be an actress and I always wanted to be one,” shares Nora, who has songs such as Rock The Party (Rocky Handsome; 2016), Kamariya (Stree; 2018), Dilbar (Satyameva Jayate; 2018) and the latest O Saki Saki from Batla House, to her credit.

The dancer-actor of Canadian origin goes on to add, “But that doesn’t mean that I’ll completely stay away from dance numbers. The moment you start shunning work, you get cornered and get into trouble. I’ve always embraced both dancing and acting.”

And Nora has also formulated a way through which she can do both. “I’ll only take up a dance number in a film if it also has a meaty role for me. So, I’ll be able to maintain a balance like that. At the moment, I’m not going to take up just dance numbers,” she maintains.

And Nora’s plan is already in fruition as she was cast in dance film Street Dancer 3D, alongside Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor. “It’s actually the best of both worlds. The experience has been life-changing for me. I’ve grown as an artist with this film — being able to shoot with so many people from different parts of the world, learning from them and understanding what passion and sacrifice mean,” she says.

All praise for her co-stars, Nora adds, “It makes you feel like a genuine artist; and working with the likes of Varun and Shraddha was an honour for me. I learnt so much with them. They were so accepting and loving. It has been such fun to be a part of the film and I hope it shows me in a different light.”
