For someone coming from a corporate background, writing a book is a rather unusual turn of events. However, for Rakesh Madhotra, CEO, Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, he claims that writing his book, The Quest of Heart, was not different from his corporate world. “As a creative professional, analysing and telling stories are intrinsic to my corporate endeavours. Besides, I have been a storyteller since childhood and always dreamed of being a writer. In my creative career spanning over three decades, I have written a plethora of short stories, novels, articles, plays, screenplays, and poems. My writings include successful books such as Mulaqat, a collection of short stories, and Ashyam, a popular novel,” says Rakesh.

About his latest book, The Quest of Heart, he says, “The book is about a man who yearns for love in all its entirety. Yet there is a sense of incompleteness in each of these bonds. The bonds of love he shares with women are bereft of what he is looking for — universality and absoluteness of love. His thirst for true love is accentuated by the fact that none of his (love) relationships turn out to be unconditional and unselfish. So, Rahul, (the protagonist), sets out on a unique journey at the end of which he hopes to discover true love.”

The book was first released only in Hindi with the title Dil Dhoondta Hai. A few months later, the English version was released. Ask him if he wishes to see his story made into a movie under the banner of Sajid Nadiadwala’s production house, and he says, “I would love to see Dil Dhoondta Hai as a movie. It will be a delight to watch my characters spring to life on the silver screen.”
