Awards are a small part of a much larger objective for Ali Fazal

After bagging the Hollywood film, Death on The Nile, directed by Kenneth Branagh last month, Ali Fazal is now stationed in London, UK, shooting for the film that co-stars Gal Gadot. Owing to the actor’s presence in the Brit Capital, he was invited by the British Trust awards in London on October 13, where he got the Leadership Award for Excellence in Global Cinema.

A source close to the actor says, “The publicatio­n British Herald celebrated the success of achievers in various sectors. It was an exclusive evening with the crème de la crème of London’s elites.At the event, Ali won the Leadership Award for Excellence in Global Cinema. Ali made his Hollywood debut with the American film Furious 7 (2015), and post that, his British-American film Victoria & Abdul (2017) with Dame Judi Dench was nominated for the Oscars. And now, Death on The Nile is his third foreign project, which is taking him places. Rumours are that he will part of two others foreign films, which are still in pre-production stages.”

Interestin­gly, Ali has also managed to balance thriving careers in India and abroad. His hit web show Mirzapur will soon air its second season, and he will soon return to Mumbai in January to shoot Bhoot Police co-starring Saif Ali Khan. Talking about the award, Ali says, “It’s humbling. I have always believed in backing good stories, the ones that can trigger a change and start a discourse. I am thankful to have the recognitio­n of this rank come my way. It is a small validation, part of a much larger objective. I am working towards creating a global community of artistes.”
