I’d love to be a part of reality shows, says Ritu

Popularly known as the O Laal Dupatte Wali girl from the movie Aankhen (1993), Ritu Shivpuri hasn’t been seen on the silver screen for a while now. However, the actor who’s currently going through many offers says that she will be announcing her next film“very soon”. “I don’t measure my success with the work I am doing in the industry. I have grown as a person over the years and I’m happy about it,” says Ritu, who has been busy with television shows. She adds that there is a movie as well as a web series, which she is slated to sign soon. “There are some exciting things lined up,” says the actor, who had made her comeback with Anil Kapoor’s show 24.

When asked about the show’s third season, Ritu says, “No one has approached me for the third season yet. 24 was my debut serial and it was a great experience. I would love to be a part of the new season if given a chance.” Ritu was at the peak of her career when she decided to take a break from Bollywood. “It was important then. My kids were small and they were my priority then. But now, they are almost teenagers and are busy with their own lives. So, I have time to pursue my second love, which is acting,” the actor adds.

With remixes being the flavour of the season, ask her who would be apt to play her role in the song

O Laal Dupatte Wali, and she says, “Oh, it’s me and me only! I am known as the Laal Dupatte Wali girl and would love to recreate the song once again. It was such a popular track. I hope someone recreates it soon!”

Ritu also wants to be part of reality shows.

“I would love to be a part of reality shows. I feel they are a great way to connect to your fans,” she concludes.

I took a break from acting because my kids were small and they were my priority then. But now, they are almost teenagers and are busy with their own lives.
