I’m much at ease now, says Rajesh Kumar

Actor Rajesh Kumar, who gained fame after playing Roshesh in the TV show Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai, has mainly played comic roles throughout his career. Talking about his work in films and being typecast in comic roles, Rajesh says, “Comedy is like classical singing. It enables you to sing all kinds of songs. I enjoy doing comedy, and it comes naturally to me. I’ve done a couple of shows in which I have played a negative role and television has still not explored that side of me as an actor. I feel I am in a transition phase from television to films. The kind of role which I might be getting is what Boman Irani or Paresh Rawal are doing. I think I suit such roles.” When asked about his views on nepotism and if it’s prevalent in every industry, Rajesh says, “Nepotism is for star kids who want to play lead roles. Actors are not shying away from joining the digital bandwagon. Elaboratin­g on also trying his luck on web, the actor says that he has already auditioned for a couple of web shows. “It’s mentioned in Natya Shastra, the ninth rasa is called Shantha rasa and this rasa will happen to you only after 40. Now, I am so much at ease and not anxious to prove anything to anybody,” the actor adds.
