Aparshakti Khurana continues his stint with music videos by featuring in yet another music single, titled Ruka Ruka. This comes after Kudiye Ni, that released early this year. While Kudiye Ni was more about love and its effervescence amidst a Punjabi wedding, the latest single falls in a mellowed space. Ruka Ruka, which marks the first collaboration between Aparshakti and Shalmali, conveys the complexities of modern relationships.

The actor, who is known for his portrayals of comic characters, will be seen in a new avatar as he turns to his serious side. Talking about it, he says, “It’s a beautiful song and shows the other side of love. It was very interesting for me to showcase these emotions because people have not seen me portraying such characters.”

Shalmali says that she is happy to “break away from the dance music” genre that people associate her with. “My single Ruka Ruka is one that I’ve lived with for the past couple of months. It’s extremely close to my heart because through these two months, through all the ups and downs, with

the people who came into my life, the relationships I built and those I had to turn away from, I have found that this song resonates with how I felt all those days. I am proud to present a song that I can call a true expression of my music and emotions,” she shares.

Aparshakti’s tryst with music dates back to 2016 when he co-composed and penned Ik Vaari featuring his brother, Ayushmann Khurrana. Shalmali is known for her songs, Pareshaan (Ishaqzaade; 2012) and Baby Ko Bass Pasand Hai (Sultan; 2016), among others.

It’s a beautiful song and shows the other side of love. It was very interesting for me to showcase these emotions because people have not seen me portraying such characters much. APARSHAKTI KHURANA, ACTOR
