The films that I lost out on eventually became flops, says Urvashi
Beauty pageant winner and actor Urvashi Rautela, who was last seen in Pagalpanti, says that she has no qualms about losing out on big films to people who come from a filmi background. “I’ve lost films to star kids a lot of times but I don’t have any complaints. I’m an outsider and I cannot do anything about that. I’ve become practical about it,” she reveals. Urvashi says that she has also lost a couple of films because she was “too beautiful for the characters” that she was approached for. “Filmmakers wanted average looking girls. I’m sure it must’ve happened with other female actors also. Sometimes your positives can be a vice,” she shares.
Urvashi adds, “It’s an unpredictable industry and so you should be ready for the worst. Now, I believe that if I lose out on a film, it’s their loss. You cannot be bogged down by rejection. You’ve to be extremely strong. If you lose an opportunity, there’s always another door open for you. The films that I lost out on eventually became flops.”
The Sanam Re (2016) actor is an optimist and says nothing can deter her spirits. “I feel like I’ve been handpicked by God. There were so many people who wanted to be in showbiz but I’m fortunate enough to be here. I’m an international beauty queen. I’m the youngest most followed Asian actor on Instagram and Facebook. And I’m loved by millions of people,” she says with a smile.
The actor who has played glamorous roles in her films says that her talent hasn’t been tapped to its full potential. She elaborates, “I’m happy but not satisfied. I can do a lot more. Right now, I’m just taking baby steps but I hope there’ll be a day when filmmakers will see me as a complete actor and visualise me in different kinds of roles. Glamorous roles are fine, but I want to be part of some acting-oriented films in a de-glam avatar. I want to strike a balance. I don’t just want to be a star; I want to be a good blend between a star and an actor.”
