‘I’M THE KING OF HORROR FILMS’
Rajniesh Duggall says he has a ‘magnetic connection’ to the supernatural genre as he was born on a new moon day; adds he is not ‘bound to act in television or films’
Foraying into the web space has become the order of the day for most film actors. And the latest to join the bandwagon is actor Rajniesh Duggall. The modelturned-actor is all set to make his digital debut with a horror series titled The Ghost Thesis that revolves around paranormal science. Ask him about what dictated this move, and he says, “The digital medium is the third big thing that has happened in the entertainment industry, the first two being television and films. Interesting projects are happening in the digital space. As an actor, I’m not bound to only acting in films and television. Digital is the future. I’m excited to be a part of it and I look forward to doing more content here.”
Rajniesh says that the reason behind his fascination for horror films and shows lies in the fact that he was born on a new moon day. “There’s definitely some magnetic connection that I have with the genre of horror and supernaturalism. Coincidentally, the films I do are mostly about spirits and ghosts, and they revolve around the concepts of karma and past life. This is perhaps related to the fact that I was born on amavas (new moon). There has to be some past life connection.”
The 1920 (2008) actor adds, “I feel like I’m the king or the prince of horror films, thrillers and films on supernaturalism and paranormal activities. I like the fact that I’m the first name that comes to the mind of filmmakers when they’re planning on making a film that belongs to this space.”
Rajniesh believes that the lack of technical know-how is the reason behind Indian horror films being disregarded. “For a horror film to do well, the VFX and the treatment has to be excellent. And to achieve that, you need a good budget. Filmmakers tend to make horror films on a very low budget and that’s the reason these films aren’t up to the mark,” he signs off.
