GURU’S HAD A GREAT 2019

- Nikita Deb ■ nikita.deb@htlive.com

To say that he had an eventful 2019 would be an understatement. With film as well as non-film songs, Guru Randhawa has undisputedly come out of 2019 as one of the most loved singers in the circuit today. 2019 also saw Guru work with Pitbull in a one-of-its-kind collaboration for the song Slowly Slowly, which he calls a “memorable moment”.

Apart from that, he released singles such as Sajan Rus Jave Tan, Ishq Tera, Mueve La Cintura and Black.

Guru says, “2019 has been an awesome year and I totally enjoyed myself while making original music, singing them and performing live. It is great to see people around the world listen to your music and, of course, the love of fans is unmatchable.”

Guru, who sang in four movies this year — a total of six songs — says that every day of 2019 was a “learning experience”. “I have grown as

a musician and worked with so many other great musicians. Each day was a learning and with God’s grace, 2019 has been a spectacular year for good music. I am hoping to set the bar higher for 2020,” says Guru.

This year also marked Guru’s debut at the Milan Fashion Week where he was the only Indian singer present. “Apart from that, and my collaboration with Pitbull, we performed for the largest crowd recorded in a live show in Kota, Rajasthan,” adds Guru, who hopes to make a lot more original music in 2020.

As far as annoying trends in the industry are concerned, Guru says that he doesn’t put much thought into it as “trends come and go”. “If I like an ongoing trend, I embrace it, otherwise I don’t follow it,” he says, adding that he believes that with each year, we are only bettering our music. “Each year is turning out to be better in terms of music and

musicians. The amount of talent emerging from our country is incredible and with social media, we have platforms for such great artistes. It’s a good phase for our music industry with the rise in the number of independent singles. Everyone is open to new sounds nowadays,” signs off Guru.
