Rakul Preet Singh, who had multiple releases in different languages in 2019, has been planning to take a break for a while, and so, she began the new decade in a rather unique way. The actor set off to a tranquil village in Maharashtra with her mum and chose “a much needed detox programme”. “I opted for the detox because I believe that Ayurveda is the best science that humans have known and it’s a cure for everything. I blocked myself from January 2 to January 10 since everyone mostly starts working post then. It was a panchakarma detox that rebooted my entire system,” she says.

The actor reveals that the detox programme helped her go back to the basics. “My day would start with two hours of Iyengar Yoga followed by routines of Ayurveda massages and long walks. I also got some time to catch up on my reading in complete silence, the only sound being that of birds chirping. I love nature. We went for a hike, did some activities and learnt Ayurveda cooking as well,” she shares.

The actor believes that in a profession like showbiz, taking breaks at regular intervals helps one maintain their sanity. “I’m an adventure freak. I love doing different things as it helps me connect with who I really am. You don’t want to be caught in the rut and monotony of everyday life that’ll make you stop questioning yourself and stop living. There’s so much more to life than what we do. In our profession, one must take time out, as often as one can or maybe once in three months, to connect with ourselves and choose our path of passion,” says the 29-yearold.

Rakul says that any kind of detox, including digital, is important, and if given a chance, she would give up her phone too. “I’m not a person who’s addicted to my phone. In a detox like this, there’s no network and you only have access to the WiFi in the central area, which is away from your rooms. This is great as it helps you disconnect. It’s a great life when you don’t have to keep checking your phone. I would love to go on a digital detox for a longer period of time but unfortunately, our work is dependent on phones and you can’t really be absent from work for so long,” she says.
